MORNINGS JUST GOT BRIGHTER WITH LAUNCH OF BREAKFAST TACO FOOD “TRUCK” IN EVANSTON
Ribbon cutting and official launch on Wednesday morning

EVANSTON, IL – Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, the Evanston Chamber and the City of Evanston invite you to the ribbon cutting and official grand opening of Amanecer Breakfast Tacos. Join us at 9am on the corner of Maple and Church as this non-traditional food “truck” wins over Evanston’s hearts and stomachs one breakfast taco at a time.

“Amanecer” is the Spanish word for “sunrise” and this mini taco truck wants to make yours a little easier every day. Selling out of a Smart Car, Amanecer Breakfast Tacos is the tiniest food “truck” you’ll find in the U.S. It parks in select Evanston spots each morning to offer commuters on their way to work and school an assortment of authentic South Texas-style breakfast tacos and organic hot coffee. You will also find them at several Evanston festivals and events.

The breakfast tacos are made with fresh cooked flour tortillas and stuffed with a variety of breakfast fillings such as eggs, meats, beans, and cheeses. Vegetarian tacos are also available. Fresh red and green salsa is optional but amply provided as tradition dictates. Other offerings, such as aguas frescas (all natural beverages made of fresh fruit or tea), Mexican hot chocolate, and buñuelitos (fried dough covered in cinnamon and sugar) will make seasonal appearances on the menu.

Every morning Amanecer Breakfast Tacos prepares all of their offerings at Evanston’s own NWC Food before selling the tacos to hungry patrons through the food “truck” and through catering services.

Originally from San Antonio, TX, Ana and Mario Vela, founders of Amanecer Breakfast Tacos, were surprised to discover that breakfast tacos didn’t exist in the Chicagoland area; not the kind of breakfast tacos they were used to. And as Evanstonians, they decided to start Amanecer Breakfast Tacos in their community.

“We believe in keeping things simple and delicious–using fresh and organic ingredients, cooking our own beans, and preparing the tacos each morning for your enjoyment. Yes that’s a lot of work, but that’s South Texas style,” said Ana Vela, Owner.

Join us for the official launch and ribbon cutting for some great breakfast tacos, hot coffee, and a dose of Texas-style food in your own backyard.
